We increasingly feel that symbolic buildings which once helped us navigate the city\u2014especially on the Anatolian side\u2014are rapidly disappearing. Meeting points and landmarks we used to give directions, like the McDonald\u2019s on Ba\u011fdat Street, the \u00c7ar\u015f\u0131, or Rexx Cinema, are vanishing one by one. We aimed to preserve the iconic value of the existing building\u2014without repeating the mistakes made in the reconstruction of the AKM, where the memory was flattened into a nostalgic replica rather than reinterpreted through contemporary architectural thought.`<\/p>\n\n\n\n
